Bayonetta had a bit of a surprise release from Platinum and Sega last week. The title showed up on Steam after a mysterious countdown appeared on its site around April Fool’s.
Bayonetta is selling for $19.99, which is a great price for the title. Great enough, in fact, that it’s attracted a whole lot of people. In just one week, the port has been purchased more than 100,000 times, according to Steam monitoring third-party SteamSpy.
That’s pretty great for a game that originally launched back in October of 2009.
Platinum wants to bring more games to the PC
Platinum Games, the studio behind the original Bayonetta, recently indicated that they want to bring more games to the PC platform. All that’s standing in their way, of course, are the publishers.
I highly doubt Nintendo’s going to relax its control over the Bayonetta 2 license to make that happen for PC gamers. Titles like Vanquish, though, could have a decent shot of winding up on Steam. That’d be great, because Vanquish is absolutely fantastic.
