iPhone 8 to feature stainless steel frame and vertical VR camera

We have another iPhone rumor and this one is predicting the new “iPhone Edition,” a moniker that has been flying around, will feature a stainless steel frame and glass back.

According to renders by Japanese blog Mac Otakara, the iPhone Edition will feature a stainless steel frame that is sandwiched by a front and back glass panel. It’s quite reminiscent of the iPhone 4 design.

This is a design KGI securities analyst Ming Chi-Kuo has been speculating since the launch of the iPhone 7.

Mac Otakara claims the new stainless steel frame in the iPhone Edition is an improved version found in the Apple Watch. It will also have a vertical dual-camera setup for VR purposes, and a flat OLED display with 2.5D cover glass.

The report also claims that the iPhone 7s and 7s Plus will be thicker than the current iPhone 7 and 7 Plus. A reason for the new design move isn’t given.

Interesting rumors for the iPhone, but take them with a grain of salt

The renders from Mac Otakara look really interesting, but take them with a grain of salt. We’re still months away from the release of Apple’s new iPhone in September, and rumors have been rampant and running wild. There was a much-contested iPhone 8 leak last week that included questionable dimensions that didn’t line up with Apple’s past choices for its flagship phone.

The renders for the iPhone Edition reveal a gorgeous design, but we won’t know if this is the final version until Apple releases the new phone later this year.
