The Nintendo Switch sold more than 906,000 units in March in the United States alone. This report comes from the NPD Group as cited in a press release by way of Nintendo. The company states that the sales pace makes the Nintendo Switch the fastest-selling video game console in Nintendo’s history.
Nintendo makes it a point to highlight that the Nintendo Switch hit that 906k mark “in a nontraditional month for a console launch.” It released in May while most platforms hit during the holiday season.
Niko Partners Analyst Daniel Ahmad tweeted this chart comparing the Switch’s first month to other platforms.

Ready for a weird stat?
The weird stat here is that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild sold more Switch copies than Switch consoles sold. That’s right, the game sold 925,000 copies compared to the 906,000-ish Switches. How? Nintendo offers that “this may be attributed to people who purchased both a limited edition of the game to collect and a second version to play.”
Did you buy two? Heck, I did that with Wind Waker HD, but I’m nuts.
