Dragon Quest XI controller lets you control the game from a slime’s butt

Hori has made some genuinely crazy controllers throughout the course of its existence, but every once in a while, it can top even itself. This Dragon Quest XI controller, which is launching alongside the game on July 29 in Japan, is shaped like one of the franchise’s classic slime monsters. As you can see in the image, the DualShock 4 touchpad in the middle and the rest of the buttons are all in place.

It’s just shaped like a slime…

…only it’s clearly upside down and you basically have to stare at the slime’s butt to control the game. Do slimes even have butts? We’re about to find out!

This image is actually a “how to” shot

Actually, this image was released not so much to show off the controller but rather, as a guide to explain how you’re actually supposed to hold it. Preview pictures released by Hori at the announcement raised question marks around the country since nobody in Japan could figure out how to fondle the little guy.

The controller itself costs 9,980 yen (roughly $98), and pre-orders are open now through Amazon.jp. The controller will be released on July 29 for the PlayStation 4 alongside Dragon Quest XI. The game also has a release on the Nintendo 3DS that very same day,
