Snapchat now lets you search for Stories

Snapchat has updated its app today, finally making Stories searchable.

Before the update, all you could do to find Stories was make your way to the right-side panel to see if Snapchat curated something interesting in the “Our Stories” tab. Now, you can search for Stories right from the home panel where you take your snaps.

What exactly can you search for now?

Snapchat is claiming you can search over one million unique Stories with the new feature. To accomplish this, Snapchat is using advanced machine learning to find the Stories you’ll search for.

Among the things you can search for include events, locations and even subjects. Snapchat already curates Stories for events like the Super Bowl and Fashion Week, but now you can search for other events that aren’t as big. You can also specify searches for better results.

You can watch Snapchat’s video detailing exactly how searching for Stories will work.

This is Snapchat’s latest move to differentiate its platform since Facebook carbon copied its Stories format. The search feature is only available in certain regions, but should be available to everyone soon.
