You can play Ms. Pac-Man in Google Maps

Google has made it a tradition of incorporating fun pranks into its products on April Fools. This year it’s turning Google Maps into a game of Ms. Pac-Man.

To access the game, just open up Google Maps on your phone or on the web and press the Pac-Man icon. The game turns your exact location into a game of Ms. Pac-Man down to the direction of the streets, which is a pretty awesome detail. For the mobile version, you navigate through the streets via swipes; on a computer, you use the keyboard. I found it to be more entertaining on the computer. The swipe gestures on the mobile version are not that intuitive and there’s less space to cover.

You can also chose new locations to play like Los Angeles or Paris, and for the web version, you can pick your own levels beyond just your local streets.

We’ve seen this prank before

Google actually did something similar with Pac-Man back in 2015. With that version though, you just played a game of Pac-Man inside of Google Maps, instead of turning your location into the game.

We’re not sure how expansive the game is with levels, but we’ll find out as we play throughout the day.
