Pikmin 2? I need you! The game has officially released on the Nintendo eShop on the Wii U. This is a virtual console title, though. It’s the Wii version of Pikmin 2, complete with the Wii Remote and Nunchuck playstyle.
That pair of walking with the Nunchuck and aiming with the Wii Remote was pure magic in Pikmin 2, and I purchased the game for a second time simply to have that feature available. If this was releasing on the Nintendo Switch with Joy-Con support? My goodness, I’d be all over it.
Still, Wii U owners now have another very strong Wii classic in their shop. If you skipped this game, get it. Pikmin 2 is wonderful. Pikmin 3, which launched on the Wii U, is wonderful, too. Get that while you’re at it. Here’s a look at Pikmin 3.
This game is selling for $19.99.
Too little too late?
I’m absolutely down with Nintendo bringing great software to more modern platforms through the Virtual Console. It seems to me, though, that the Wii U’s getting way too much attention in this regard while the Nintendo Switch has received none at all. The Wii U is a finished system, yet we’re only now seeing great games like Pikmin 2 hit it.
Why not get a Virtual Console rolling for the Switch. Think it’ll happen? It has to, right? I hope they go with my Netflix-like idea.
