20-minute video destroys Mass Effect Andromeda

by Joey Davidson | March 27, 2017March 27, 2017 12:30 pm PST

Since perhaps a week or so before its initial release, word about Mass Effect Andromeda’s utterly poor facial animations has spread around the internet like wildfire.

We’ve likely all seen a few GIFs and gameplay video by now, but the YouTube video below puts a ton of it and more together for a 20-minute tour of promise and failure to deliver. It’s a mess.

The video comes from YouTuber CrowbCat. If you’re unfamiliar with their work, you should remedy that. A lot of the clips come for the sake of pure humor, but this person has a knack for using nothing but footage and moments captured from either the games or their creators to put together exceptionally compelling evidence.

Regardless, let me warn you. This clip has story relevant spoilers in it. This is your spoiler warning. Don’t watch it beyond the first 2:30 if you don’t want to be spoiled.

Have you been playing Andromeda?

What do you personally think? I’ve been taking the game slowly, but it’s been awfully hard to swallow the horrific facial animations. The writing is sort of bad already, but every moment that feels like it should be quite grand is often ruined by a dumb twitch or tick that comes via facial animation.

Has it been bad for you? Are you simply ignoring it?
