GameStop says Zelda almost has a 1:1 attach rate for the Nintendo Switch

Surprise, surprise, almost everyone who is buying a Nintendo Switch also wants a copy of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. It goes without saying that Nintendo’s iconic series is the main lure for driving people to pick up the console at the moment as other titles slowly leak in. I guess that’s what happens when you’re the best-rated game of the decade.

GameStop CEO Tony Bartel, in his most recent round of praise for the console with Gamasutra, now claims that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild nearly has a 1:1 attachment rate. And guess what, other games aren’t doing so badly either.

The other thing is, every game that’s out there, to have over a five and a half attach rate to this, signifies that a lot of people are finding this a great platform and they’re picking up any games that they can. I mean, we have almost a one-to-one attach of Zelda.

Could gamers be finally giving I Am Setsuna a chance? It makes me happy that so many people are playing such a sad game.

Can’t keep the console on the shelves

In the meantime, many people who want to buy the Switch can’t seem to do so because of lack of supplies. Bartel says that shipments disappear off the shelves within hours.

The demand is incredibly strong for this. As soon as we get it into our stores, it’s out within hours. So we anticipate we’re going to be chasing supply this entire year.

Nintendo has reportedly doubled production, looking to ship 16 million units within the first year. Will it make it? Well, at the rate it is unrolling at, it wouldn’t surprise me one bit.
