Guess what, Pokémon GO trainers! Another of your calls has been answered! Players are reporting around the globe that shiny Pokémon are popping up with the latest Big Water global event.
Actually, just shiny Magikarps have been found so far, so don’t go out running expecting to find a shiny Pikachu or anything like that. Just Magikarps for now.
Not all is lost, because, as we all know, those Shiny Magikarps will one day grow into a giant Shiny Gyarados’ if you scrounge up enough candy. These shiny Gyarados’ are red, an homage to the Lake of Rage in the Johto region!
In homage to many players' first shiny (the red Gyrados in the Lake of Rage) Niantic has made Gyrados/Magikarp the 1st shiny variant family: pic.twitter.com/k3IQK2T4Cw

Happy hunting! Or Happy Fishing, rather…
Experts, and by that I mean my mom, have stated that extra water Pokémon have been wandering around their favorite locations, especially Seels and Shelders. If you’re still playing and need to stock up, this Holiday event is the best time to get out there and do it.
Last time I checked, I didn’t have a Dewgong yet.
