The Alliance Alive extended trailer – Fire Emblem Echoes isn’t the only JRPG on 3DS this year

Nintendo says it is continuing support on the Nintendo 3DS as the portable Nintendo Switch starts to take off, and it often points to Fire Emblem Echoes as an example of a high profile title to justify its position. Though I wouldn’t blame you for forgetting since we’ve seen nothing about this other game, but Fire Emblem Echoes isn’t the only JRPG coming to the handheld in 2017.

There is also The Alliance Alive, FuRyu’s follow-up to its underrated JRPG The Legend of Legacy. The game is due for release in Japan this June 22, but it remains to be seen if anyone will pick up the tab for a localization.

If you need a visual rundown, FuRyu just put out a five-minute trailer highlighting exploration, characters, and combat.

Which classic series will The Alliance Alive ape off of?

The Legend of Legacy was a nice little JRPG that fans of the classic SaGa series we’re able to find a solid outlet in. FuRyu scrounged up a team of former Square Enix developers to make that game, but it’s unknown if they will be shaping this successor in the same light. The gameplay still has a huge question mark hovering over it even if its world has a more modernized approach.

The most exciting name added to the credits is Yoshitaka Murayama, the creator of Konami’s fabulous Suikoden series. If he is writing, you can bet that I’ll be reading! Now, I just hope that someone like XSEED or Atlus steps up to bring it to us before the Nintendo 3DS ends its twilight years.

The Alliance Alive launches in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS on June 22.
