Fans believe they have found Satoru Iwata in Zelda: Breath of the Wild

Former Nintendo President Satoru Iwata passed away before The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild came to completion. The development team has spoken several times already on how he influenced the title and how they were inspired by him to continue even after his sad passing.

Now, fans believe they have found the team’s tribute tucked away inside the game.

The character Botrick has a very… familiar look about him, does he? The hair, the glasses. He hangs around in one of the early sections of the game called Outskirt Stable, and he gives Link kind words of encouragement and warnings about the surrounding areas.

Might be, might not be, but it’s clear that Iwata continues to live on in Nintendo

Satoru Iwata’s absence at Nintendo is still being felt by its employees. Many looked up to him for guidance during his reign as the company’s president, and many have turned to game development to pay tribute to him in their own special way. Whether or not the team intentionally made Botrick look like Iwata, the world really would like to believe that it is him walking around in there, pointing you in the right direction.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild is available now for the Nintendo Switch and Wii U.
