If you’re like me, you’ve been watching all of the coverage surrounding Mass Effect: Andromeda‘s character animations with cautious optimism. “What if,” you may have considered, “BioWare sees this crap and patches it out ahead of release?”
I don’t think that’s an illogical thought process. They’ve been done with game development for a while now, and there’s no way they didn’t catch these animation bugs in testing. They seem to be everywhere.
Well, if you’ve been hoping the day-one patch would fix the wonky walks and tired faces, you’re out of luck. One fan hit Lead Designer Ian Frazier on Twitter to ask about the possibility of improving animations in a patch. Here’s the exchange:

It’s not part of the day-one patch, and I find that acceptable. What I think is weird currently is that BioWare’s been quiet about it. Maybe they’re waiting for the reviews to hit to see how widespread the issue is, but their silence is problematic.
Will this eventually be patched? Can it? Is it a problem so deeply rooted in coding that it won’t happen without tremendous expense? We’ll see.
