Overwatch’s newest hero Orisa won’t go live until “later in the month”

Overwatch‘s newest hero, Orisa, is still in the testing phase on the PTR. That’s the Public Test Realm that’s open to all PC players. Normally, heroes hit the PTR for a week before making it to the main game. Not so with Orisa.

In fact, we might be waiting a few weeks until we see this tank hit the full client. Chatting with fans on the Battle.net forums, Game Director Jeff Kaplan clarified that Orisa is PTR-bound for a bit longer.

Just to clarify, we’re leaving Orisa on the PTR for a little while. We’re getting great feedback and fixing a lot of issues. I know this feels a little longer than other PTR periods, but we think it will be for the better. We know how anxious you all are to have Orisa join your ranks… and she will soon… but most likely she will go live later in the month rather than this early.

They’re making changes to Orisa

It looks like Orisa’s getting tweaked, too. With the most recent PTR patch, Orisa saw some changes to her meta, so that will likely continue until Blizzard feels they’ve got this one right.

Which I’m all for. Sombra was a weak release, and I’d rather not see that again for Orisa.
