Instagram Stories updated with Snapchat-like Geostickers

Back in 2014, Snapchat introduced location-specific filters — Geofilters, for short — and now Instagram has followed suit by launching its own version of the feature, called Geostickers.

At present, it’s only live in two cities — Jakarta and New York City — but the Facebook-owned company says that there are more than a dozen options available for each location, with more set to be added in the coming weeks.

Just like Snapchat, when you head into a specific neighborhood or visit certain landmarks, new stickers will appear; each one reportedly matching the vibe of the locale it represents.

To start using Geostickers, you’ll need to head over to the App Store or Play Store to download the latest version of the Instagram application. Once installed, simply hit the sticker button, then you’re good to go.

But what about other cities?

Unfortunately, there’s no word on whether Geostickers will be available in other cities, but we think it’s pretty likely that support for more regions is on the way.
