Zeboyd Games finally has a release date set for its Kickstarter-backed JRPG Cosmic Star Heroine. Backers and the general public will have access to the game on April 11 for the PlayStation 4 and PC.
The PS Vita version is not scheduled yet, but it will arrive soon and come with a cross-buy option, meaning no need to double dip. For such a killer JRPG throwback to Chrono Trigger and all your favorites, this game is only going to cost $14.99.
I haven’t played it yet, but that sounds like a steal.
We’re super excited to finally be releasing Cosmic Star Heroine and hope everyone enjoys the finished game! This is by far the biggest, most sophisticated game we’ve ever released so we hope it meets the high expectations many of you have for it. Thanks again to all the people who have supported us in our Kickstarter, through feedback, and through kind words. We’re almost there!
Looks like a dream come true
Zeboyd established itself as a reliable developer of JRPG throwbacks with four really solid games. Cosmic Star Heroine is their fifth, and it looks to be their very best. It’s got pieces of Chrono Trigger, Suikoden, and all of the games I played as a kid, and it just looks out of this world.
My only concern is that by the time the Vita version comes out, which was the way I intended to play it, the Nintendo Switch will have overcome it as my preferred mobile platform. Nintendo would be wise to toss this game a little Nindie love someday.
Cosmic Star Heroine will launch for the PlayStation 4 and PC on April 11.
