We’ve seen enough photos of the Galaxy S8 to get a good idea of what the device looks like. Now, a few videos of the device have leaked, giving us a brief look at the handset in action. With LG’s G6 having been announced over the weekend, it’s clear the battle between these two devices is going to be fiercer than ever.
The videos don’t reveal anything about the Galaxy S8 we didn’t already know, but we do get further confirmation Samsung is seriously cutting down on bezels—something we saw LG do with the G6. From what we can tell, the Galaxy S8 essentially looks like a Galaxy S7 Edge, with the home button moved to the rear while expanding the display area.
It’s difficult to tell because the videos are such poor quality, but it appears as though the Galaxy S8 will still have a headphone jack and opt for USB-C, which is being widely adopted across the mobile industry. And, as we feared, it looks like the fingerprint sensor now rests next to the camera sensor, rather than below it, which is a curious design choice.
We already know the Galaxy S8’s specs
Last week, we bought you an exclusive look at the Galaxy S8’s final specs, so we have a pretty clear picture of what the device will offer when it launches. Now, it’s just a matter of Samsung unveiling the intangibles, such as Bixby and DeX, two features that should help the device stand out from the crowd.
Samsung is gearing up to unveil the Galaxy S8 on March 29, so we still have about a month before the device (and the Galaxy S8 Plus) is official. Until then, you can see the handset in action before it becomes a reality at the end of next month.
