Overwatch: Watch this dev painstakingly animate one of Mei’s highlight intros

Earlier this week, one of the “behind the scenes” videos relating to Overwatch went up on Vimeo from a Blizzard dev.

Blizzard Animator David Gibson shared the video of the work he spent to animate one of Mei’s highlight intros. You know, the something like five seconds of clever, hero-specific goodness that’s awarded to a Play of the Match? That took Gibson four days. Here’s the clip, sped up.

Painstaking, right? Of course, Gibson isn’t the only person who made that Mei intro happen. There’s lots, lots, lots more that goes into each and every piece of a video game. Gibson took a moment to give a nod to those who had a hand in this on his Vimeo description, so we’re doing the same.

None of the work included in this video would even be possible if it wasn’t for the incredible character design, character modelling and character technical design work by my talented teammates on the Overwatch team at Blizzard Entertainment.

Character Design by: Arnold Tsang
Character Model by: Renaud Galand
Character Rig by: Dylan Jones
Technical Support and Workflow Tools by: Lan Fang & Dylan Jones.

Blizzard makes good stuff, right?
