Zootopia Oscar posters spoof 2016’s biggest films

It’s becoming a tradition for the creatives at Disney to parody Best Picture nominations with its own content. Last year, the studio took aim at Bridge of Spies, The Revenant, and Mad Max, using Zootopia characters and clever puns Now, the team has created a fresh batch of posters, and they are a delight.

Among the standouts, Disney’s La La Lamb is a clear riff on Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, while Fantastic Beasts has been morphed into Fantastic Cheetahs and Where to Find Them. Meanwhile, Hell or High Water is Hell or High Otter, and Hacksaw Ridge is Hogsaw Ridge.

I’d watch any of these movies

“Even a year after Zootopia was released, we still feel compelled to create for this world and these characters,” explained Zootopia directors Rich Moore and Byron Howard. “So in the spirit of this awards season, we decided to pay tribute to the best films of 2016.”

Among this year’s nominations, Zootopia is up for Best Animated Film, which is thoroughly deserved. However, I’m more partial to Kubo and the Two Strings, which currently sits at an impressive 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.

To see the newest posters, check out the gallery above, which also includes the posters from last year.
