Hugh Jackman would continue playing Wolverine if he were in the MCU

One of the most talked about points leading up to Logan has been Hugh Jackman’s statement that this will be his last movie as Wolverine. It will be the ninth time he’s played the iconic hero. But if for some reason Wolverine were to be able to join the MCU, Jackman would be open for another go.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, Jackman opened up about playing the role for 17 years and why it was time to hang up the claws. During the interview, he dropped the little nugget saying he’d be up to play the role if he could join the Avengers.

“If that was on the table when I made my decision, it certainly would have made me pause. That’s for sure,” Jackman said. “Because I always love the idea of him within that dynamic, with the Hulk obviously, with Iron Man.”

Seeing Wolverine duke it out with Hulk would be too epic to describe. It would also be great to see Wolverine’s deadpan humor play off the likes of Tony Stark, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord and Thor. That’d be comedy gold.

Unfortunately, this will never happen

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but this will never happen. X-Men and Wolverine haven’t fallen into the dire situation that forced Sony to play nice with Marvel and share Spider-Man. As long as goodwill is associated with the characters, Fox will hold on to them with an iron grip. Logan is garnering glowing reviews and will likely be a huge box office hit. Fox is probably not too keen on sharing that money with Marvel, which completely dashes our hopes of a Wolverine-Avengers mash-up.

At the very least, we’d love to see Wolverine team up with Deadpool, but it doesn’t sound like that will happen either.
