The latest trailer for Mass Effect Andromeda offers tons. BioWare promised a wealth of information over the weekend, and it delivered, touching on a variety of subjects ranging from weaponry and combat techniques to different loadouts and character classes.
Much of the original gameplay carries over from the first three games, and this is especially found in the weaponry. Once again, characters can specialize in pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles, and they can pour skill points into whatever they prefer. However, since characters can change loadouts in between missions, they will never have to fully commit to a single one. Unlike the previous Mass Effect games, characters are not limited based on their class and can shift their focus between different builds.
The cover system has been improved a lot since Mass Effect 3, and a variety of melee weapons changes up how players will be able to get in for a quick kill. Hammers hit heavier, shivs are best for stealth kills, and swords attack quickly allowing for an easy retreat.
Mass Effect Andromeda looks like the real deal
Mass Effect Andromeda looks like a true upgrade over the original trilogy, and with BioWare taking inspirations from all the right places, this might have a chance to dethrone Mass Effect 2 as the best game of the last ten years.
The game launches on March 21 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.
