Resident Evil 7 is in the black, Capcom confirms it’s already recovered development costs

Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is now both a critical and a financial hit, as Capcom recently confirmed that it has recouped the cost of development. The game is well on its way to making the publisher a ton of money.

During the company’s most recent earnings call, Capcom confirmed that it would take 3 million shipped units to make up for the costs, and the game already achieved this milestone earlier this week. Capcom didn’t provide any specific numbers yet. However, the game’s solid reputation is going to help it fly off shelves at a solid enough rate to aid the company.

Resident Evil 7 has a “continuous long-tail”

Those are Capcom’s words, not mine. The company currently projects 4 million copies before the end of next month, and it is hoping that the DLC and further expansions help make it a long lasting game.

Best of luck. I haven’t seen Capcom this confident in a title in quite a while.
