Fine! I’ll download Pokémon GO again. You got me, Niantic and The Pokémon Company, you got me.
Later this week, according to the release we received this morning, Pokémon GO will see the addition of the Pokémon found in Pokémon Gold and Silver. 80 new Pokémon in all, and they include the likes of Chikorita, Cyndaquil and Totodile (for life!).
The Pokémon GO update adds even more to the game, too
The update doesn’t stop at the 80 new Johto region Pokémon. It also adds new avatar accessories to further customize your trainer, new berries, new Evolution items and “new encounter gameplay.”
The two new berries are “the Nanab Berry, which slows a Pokémon’s movements, and the Pinap Berry, which doubles the amount of Candy received if the next catch attempt succeeds.”
The press release with this news included a statement from Niantic CEO John Hanke:
“Today is a momentous occasion for our team here at Niantic which has been hard at work to deliver these additional Pokémon and build upon the encounter and capture mechanics for our passionate global community of Trainers playing Pokémon GO… Pokémon GO is a live experience which we’ll be continuing to support and evolve in new and interesting ways for years to come with new gameplay features, in-game and live events, more Pokémon to discover and much more.”
You’ve got my attention, Niantic. I’m redownloading the game now.
