Following this weekend’s teaser, the cast of Stranger Things have begun to share details ahead of the show’s return later this year. Among the juicy tidbits, we finally have details about the second season’s plot. (And, yes, they’re wearing Ghostbusters costumes because it’s Halloween.)
At the end of last season, things ended on a down note. Eleven disappeared, Barb died, and Will was having terrifying visions. Season two will be all about the small town of Hawkins trying to get back to normal, only for things to get worse.
According to the Duffer brothers, there will be “a major amount of otherworldly forces causing trouble” when the show returns. The rift to the Upside Down will still be open, and the lab introduced in the first season will be running as usual, only this time led by a new doctor played by Paul Reiser.
While the Duffer brothers don’t share what kind of evils the town of Hawkins will encounter, they did say the show will explore “different kinds of horror.” Stranger Things featured a lot of horror elements and it sounds like they want to bring that to an all-new level.
Dustin will have a monster for a pet
Stranger Things 2 won’t be all about horror. It’ll also introduce a fun new “polliwog-like pet” that Dustin adopts. “It’s a little creature I get to bond with,” explained Gaten Matarazzo, who plays Dustin. “It’s obviously not from this planet or dimension.”
As for Eleven, well, we know she’s returning, we just don’t know if she’s in Hawkins or the Upside Down.
Stranger Things 2 is set to hit Netflix on Halloween.
