Rumor has it Apple has three new iPads prepared to launch sometime this year, including a refreshed 9.7-inch device, a brand new 10.5-inch iPad and a refreshed 12.9-inch iPad Pro. New evidence suggests that, at the very least, the largest of the bunch will be refreshed shortly.
MacRumors recently noticed that shipping times for Apple’s 12.9-inch iPad Pro have slipped to 2-3 weeks, perhaps suggesting that stock is beginning to run dry as Apple prepares to launch a new model. The same rings true at retailers such as Verizon and Best Buy.
In-store pick-up options for some models also suggest the tablet won’t be in stock at stores until early March, though MacRumors discovered some stores have specific models available.
New iPads this spring
Apple typically announces new iPads in the spring, so this doesn’t come as a huge surprise. In fact, Apple has been known to make a splash, announcing its iPad event while other companies are hosting press conferences at Mobile World Congress in late February/early March. Perhaps we’ll see that again this year.
