Pokémon GO’s Valentine’s event starts today, increases spawn rates of pink Pokémon

Calling all Pokémon GO players (if you’re still there, which I’m sure you are, not judging at all), Niantic and The Pokémon Company have revealed the Valentine’s Day in-game event!

It’s actually pretty solid, too.

In honor of the pink, red and white holiday, Pokémon GO will see increased spawn rates for Pokémon like Clefable, Porygon and Chansey. You’ll see a higher chance of Cleffa, Igglybuff and Smoochum hatching from eggs. Players will get double the amount of candy from catching and transferring Pokémon, and Buddy Pokémon will find candy twice as fast.

But wait, there’s Lure!

My favorite bit of this event is the way it’s set to tweak Lures. You can still place Lure Modules on PokéStops, only now they’ll last six hours instead of 30 minutes.

That makes total sense for hanging out with friends, sure, but it also makes sense for dates. If you and your significant other have an affinity for Pokémon GO, spend Valentine’s at a restaurant and drop a lure. Or don’t. Just hang with your boyfriend, girlfriend, wife or husband instead. I’m not your relationship guru.

The Valentine’s event runs from today at 11:00 a.m. PST to February 15, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. PST.
