ZTE released the Android Nougat update for the ZTE Axon 7 on Tuesday, bringing support for Google Daydream VR. The smartphone was originally touted as one of the first outside of the Google Pixel to support Daydream, though that award technically goes to the Moto Z, which received Daydream support a couple of months ago.
As you’re likely already aware, Android Nougat delivers a bevy of new software features including the ability to run two apps side-by-side, support for new emoji, additional battery saving features and a generally smoother experience. The Daydream support is also welcome, given that it’s typically a feature that’s available to more expensive smartphones. In fact, ZTE touts the Axon 7 as the “most affordable Daydream-ready phone in the US.” At about $384 from Amazon, that rings true as far as I can tell.
If you’re interested in a smartphone with a ton of flagship features and a price that won’t break your wallet, check out the ZTE Axon 7. In general, however, keep in mind that we recommend most folks hold off on buying a smartphone right now. If you own the Axon 7, be sure to check for an update now.
