Fallout 4’s 58GB hi-res texture pack is live, you might not need a beastly rig to run it

Developer Bethesda recently announced a hi-res texture pack for Fallout 4. When it announced the pack, it said the patch would check in at 58GB, it’d be free and that you’d need a gaming rig this tall to ride it:

MINIMUM:

  • OS: Windows 7/8/10 (64-bit OS required)
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-5820K or better
  • Memory: 8 GB RAM
  • Graphics: GTX 1080 8GB
  • Storage: 58GB available space

The pack is out now, and it’s being met with largely positive reviews. Some of the required specs are spot on, like the storage demands, memory and OS (obviously on that last one). The GPU and CPU might a bit too high than what gamers really need.

Gamers are running this pack with lesser rigs!

The good news for Fallout 4 fans with a GPU and a CPU less than the high-end GTX 1080 and Core i7-5820K is that gamers are reporting success without meeting those specs. Steam’s being flooded reviews from users saying they’ve run the game at 60fps in 1080p with a GTX 960 and a Core i5. Those are definitely weaker hardware configurations.

If you have a sufficient connection speed and the storage space on your PC, give it a crack. In the worst case scenario, you’ll just delete it if it doesn’t run. Hit the source link below for the add-on’s Steam page. It’s free!
