Android 7.0 is now rolling out to unlocked Moto Z handsets in the United States. The update brings all the features and improvements you would expect from Nougat, including support for Google’s new Daydream VR platform.
Moto Z owners have been itching to get their hands on Nougat since the update rolled out to Verizon’s Moto Z Droid back in November, and now the wait is over for those with an unlocked device. The update is expected to reach carrier-branded handsets soon.
Nougat brings a whole host of performance improvements, plus enhanced Doze mode for better battery life, the Vulkan API for greater gaming, and split-screen multitasking. It also brings Daydream support, allowing the Moto Z to be used with Google’s Daydream View headset.
And it couldn’t come at a better time! Until February 25, you can pick up a Daydream View headset from the Google Store for just $49, which is $30 off its regular price tag.
There’s no sign of a Nougat update for the Moto Z Play yet, but Lenovo previously promised this would come in March, so users don’t have to wait too much longer.
If you’ve already received Nougat on your Moto Z, let us know how you’re getting on with it down in the comments.
