Yooka-Laylee’s Wii U backers can switch to Nintendo Switch this month

Playtonic felt genuinely bad about canceling the Wii U version of its upcoming platformer Yooka-Laylee, but rest assured that those who opted to back the project will be allowed to pick it up on the Nintendo Switch or another console of their own choice.

Options to change platforms to other consoles are available now, but those who wish to have the game for the Switch must wait until the end of the month. Playtonic gave the time window on its official Twitter account.

The Nintendo Switch will provide the only portable version

Depending on how important this is to you, maybe the Nintendo Switch is the best path to take for Yooka-Laylee. I know the option to play all of my video games portably is a huge boost, especially on a console with similar power to the Nintendo Switch.

Yooka-Laylee’s Kickstarter campaign came around after I stopped backing projects, so I’m not bound to the game just yet. I do want to pick it up eventually, and without question, the Nintendo Switch is the highest priority on my console options.

Of course, that comes with a requirement to wait since the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC versions all come out on April 11. The Nintendo Switch version is still TBA.
