HENRY CAVILL as Superman in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ action adventure “MAN OF STEEL,” a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

I don’t think anyone is under the impression that Superman will stay dead in this year’s Justice League. After all, the end of Batman v Superman left audiences with a not-so-subtle hint that he’d return. The mystery of Justice League will be how he comes back and what kind of role he’ll play.

In a new interview with Empire, Justice League director Zack Snyder shares a new tidbit of information about Superman’s role, saying he’ll play a “big part.”

“Superman does play a big part in this movie,” Snyder said. “His presence, and lack of presence, are big story points…”

Well, that isn’t much, but it’s more than the director has revealed in the past.

How much Superman will we get?

So far, all of the official Justice League marketing has focused on Batman and Wonder Woman trying to rally Flash, Cyborg, and Aquaman. How much Superman will be involved remains to be seen.

His lack of presence will likely drive Batman to continue his fight against evil. His presence, meanwhile, will likely come at a crucial moment in the story, perhaps to save the team from perishing.

Although Snyder is starting to open up about Justice League, we still have a lot of unanswered questions. As we get closer to the movie’s release, however, expect a lot more to be unveiled.

Justice League hits theaters on Nov. 17.
