Tesla Model S P100D gets Ludicrous+ software update, it’ll melt your face

The Model S P100D is already the quickest production car on the market, capable of going from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Now, a new update issued by Tesla is giving it some extra oomph.

According to Electrek, a new Easter Egg found in a recent software update is allowing owners to enable a new Ludcirous+ mode, which unlocks 35 more horsepower. The new mode allows the P100D to go from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.4 seconds, shaving a tenth of a second off the previous time.

A test performed by DragTimes, which already received the new Easter Egg, was able to get an unofficial time of 2.465 seconds when going from 0 to 60 mph. That’s absurdly fast for a consumer vehicle, and ensures the Model S P100D remains the market’s quickest production car.

Here’s how to enable it

The Easter Egg is activated similarly to the “warp speed” effect previously introduced by Tesla. Simply hold the “Ludicrous” button on the settings page for five seconds, and once the warp speed effect disappears, a message will pop up.

“Are you sure you want to push the limits?” the message reads. “This will cause accelerated wear of the motor, gearbox and battery.”

Once you hit yes (instead of “No, I want my mommy!”) you’ll be met with a new screen on the instrument cluster, according to Electrek, giving drivers more information about the battery pack.
