What if Apple took the circular user interface from the Apple Watch and brought it to the iPhone? That’s what a new concept from Concepts iPhone imagines.
Indeed, the video you see below is a concept of iOS 11, the presumed next major iOS release. It may or may not launch next September, but I can almost certainly tell you it won’t look like what you see above. In the video, you see a user interface that’s focused on small orbs, each representing an icon, with the primary in-use app front and center. It’s called CIRQLE UI, a fitting albeit silly name that calls forth the “web 2.0” names of startups of yesteryear.
If I’m frank, I don’t like CIRCLE UI very much. I don’t mean to knock the artist at all, I know these things take time. It’s just this imagination of iOS 11 seems to waste far too much space on the homescreen, perhaps even more than iOS 10 already does (is that even possible?)
