The PlayStation 4 is selling like crazy. In December, Sony announced the system had sold over 50 million units. As part of their presentation last night at CES, though, the console manufacturer announced that the system has now sold 53.4 million units. That means it sold almost 3.5 million units in the last month.
Between November 21 and January 1, the PlayStation 4 family of consoles moved 6.2 million units collectively. Meanwhile, PlayStation 4 owners added 50.4 million games to their libraries in that same time.
The Uncharted 4 bundle boosted both game and system numbers for the company
Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End in particular is selling well, with Sony saying the game has sold 8.7 million units total. Many of those units can likely be attributed to the PlayStation 4 sales above, as the Uncharted 4 bundle was one of the more common ones throughout the holidays. Numbers for the PlayStation VR were not provided, but Sony CEO Kazuo Hirai did say during the presentation that the hardware is selling well.
The Xbox had a few hot months this summer, but unless Microsoft has a big press release ready to go that they haven’t yet unleashed, it sounds like Sony is back on top.
