Meet the FF 91: The world’s most technologically advanced car

by Roy Choi | January 4, 2017

Faraday Future, just a year removed from its CES announcement that unveiled the FFZero1, showcased its first production car, the FF 91 on Tuesday. Is it the Model X competitor that it promises to be? The FF 91  is a fully connected, autonomous vehicle that uses facial recognition for car personalization. Additionally the AI promises to help the car perform better and more safely. FF91 also demonstrated a live self-parking demo using the car’s sensors without a driver behind the wheel, a feature Faraday Future calls “driverless valet.”

FF91 boasts the “world’s greatest electric performance,” along with the biggest battery, best range, and an open charging system. In fact, the FF 91 promises a 130 KwH battery, which exceeds 378 miles. That will get you from Los Angeles to Silicon Valley with miles to spare. If you were to pace yourself and drive 55 mph, you could potentially net 481 miles. Of course electric power is about torque and the FF 91 promises up to 1050 HP. This puts the FF 91 faster than the Model S P100D and Model X P100D, at least according to Faraday Future’s tests. The FF 91 has a 0-60 mph speed of 2.39 seconds.

Faraday Future promises to “reformat” every aspect of the car industry, from marketing, sales, mobility and user value. The automaker claims over 600 auto patents and over a thousand IoT patents. What that means for a production car is still unknown. It all must come together for a final, achievable, affordable product.

It all sounds magic doesn’t it? Tesla itself, which aimed to change the auto industry, has run into numerous hurdles. Car making is not easy.

When will we see FF 91 on the road?

At its event at CES, Faraday showed off construction vehicles moving dirt around and a render of what a factory ought to look like. It will be a while before we can see these cars hit the road. Production is expected to start in 2018, with no estimate on first deliveries.

When it does eventually hit the road, the FF 91 will be one of the most impressive cars on the road. It certainly boasts compelling tech features, an intriguing design, and stellar performance. If you’re interested in acquiring one, you can head over to the Faraday Future website to reserve your own FF 91 right now.
