Devil May Cry and Dragon’s Dogma director to announce new game in 2017

Hideaki Itsuno is currently one of the most senior developers employed at Capcom with Devil May Cry 2, 3, and 4 highlighting his director’s credits. His most recent game was the surprise hit Dragon’s Dogma, a sleeper hit action RPG from way back in 2012.

He’s been relatively quiet since then, but as a New Year’s promise on his Twitter account, Itsuno stated that he wants to reveal his new game in 2017.

Let’s get speculating!

As mentioned before, Itsuno is currently the go-to-guy for Dragon’s Dogma and any sequel that it might crank out. That seems to be the most likely culprit here, and I wouldn’t mind it one bit. Dragon’s Dogma wasn’t perfect, burdened by a horrible open-world that punished players for walking anywhere, but there’s always room for improvement in any sequel.

Devil May Cry 5 most likely won’t be the game since Capcom needs to re-evaluate that series before putting out another one.

If we’re going to fanboy out here, Itsuno also was responsible for both Power Stone and Power Stone 2, two of the best arena fighting games of all time. Today’s eSports scene would do well with another entry in this classic franchise.

Or, we might see something that Itsuno hasn’t worked on yet, like Onimusha. Perhaps, he’s doing something entirely new! We’ll have to wait and see what it is! New Year, new possibilities.
