Sorry folks. Rumors swirled earlier this week that HTC might already be ready to show off a new version of the HTC Vive. They weren’t true.

HTC confirmed to¬†Pocketnow that it has no intentions of showing off the rumored “HTC Vive 2”¬†during the International CES nexat week. “At Vive, we are laser focused on building out a strong and growing ecosystem for current and future Vive owners so they can experience the best room-scale VR with the most compelling content available.”

This is good news

In other words, HTC is still working to build out the software experiences that current HTC Vive owners can take advantage of. It’s not, it seems, working to quickly replace the Vive with something newer and better. That’s good news, and exactly what I’d want to hear if I owned a Vive. It’s already amazing, why rush something out to replace it?
