Factories working overtime to build new Apple AirPods

Silly as they look, AirPods are facing increased demand from consumers who want to buy Apple’s latest gadget. The headphones went on sale just before Christmas but sold out within an hour. Shipping times are now pushed back into February. As a result, Apple’s suppliers are working around the clock to boost production.

DigiTimes cited a report from China’s Economic Daily News on Friday, noting that Apple’s supplier Inventec is “working overtime to deliver orders” placed for Apple’s AirPods. The report said Inventec is also “expanding capacity,” which should allow it to create even more AirPods.

AirPods quality control should be a focus, too

This doesn’t mean that your order will ship any sooner but it should help Apple have enough stock in the coming months that new orders won’t be delayed as long.

Apple should be focused on quality control as well, however, because reports are already starting to surface that suggest the AirPod travel case doesn’t actually provide as much battery life as advertised. Maybe Apple should fix that before it sends production into overtime.
