Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of Final Fantasy and current CEO of Mistwalker Studios, is all set to reveal his new video game. Bits and pieces of the game have leaked over the year, including a few concept art pieces and a tidbit that he was working with Bravely Default make Silicon Studios, but this is the first he has spoken of a timeline.

In an interview with 4Gamer, the famed developer stated that he will be making an announcement sometime in 2017.

I plan to announce a new title in 2017. Stay tuned!

I need those deets, Sakaguchi!

Whatever he’s working on, fans of Final Fantasy should be head over heels to see what he has to offer. The creator of their favorite series teaming up with one of its most popular successors, Bravely Default, is nothing to scoff at. This could be the real deal in ways that Sakaguchi’s mobile games were not.

Still, don’t knock Terra Battle until you’ve sunk a year into it!

The big questions remain in all the smaller details now. The genre, the payment model, the platforms. 2017 is looking bright already!
