Apple is now selling the Apple Watch through its refurbished store, with the cheapest model selling for just $229. Mind you, that’s for the first generation model, which was released in April 2015, but thanks to a recent software update the device should feel good as new.
The availability of the Apple Watch in the company’s refurbished store underlines the company’s commitment to reselling mobile products. Recently, Apple began selling refurbished iPhones for the first time in the company’s history. Now, you can outfit your entire persons with refurbished Apple gear, from a computer right on down to the watch on your wrist.
Apple’s Series 2 Apple Watch is also available in its refurbished store; the 42mm stainless steel, for example, runs for $509. You can also pick up the 42mm Series 1 Apple Watch in space gray for $249. Prices vary depending on which size and band you get.
Are smartwatches still a thing?
It’s no secret the smartwatch market is on the decline, which could be why these devices are seeing such steep discounts. If you do decide to jump into the wearable market, you can certainly do worse than the Apple Watch, which is among the top smartwatch. However, that’s not really saying much.
Notably missing from Apple’s refurbished store is its luxury Watch Edition, which retailed for several thousand dollars when it launched last year. Now how are people going to know you’re rich?
As a reminder, Apple says it tests and certifies all refurbished products, which come with a one-year warranty.
