Pokémon GO players have walked enough to pass Pluto in space

In order to catch Pokémon in Pokémon GO, you need to walk. You need to walk a lot.

Since the game launched this past summer, players of Pokémon GO have done, let’s say, a fair bit of walking. Niantic and The Pokémon Company released a quick video showing off some visual statistics for Pokémon GO.

Here’s the clip.

That’s right, we’ve all collectively walked far enough to pass Pluto in space. Added up, we’ve walked enough to circle the Earth 200,000 times. It would, according to the video’s description, take a jetliner 1,000 years in flight to cover that amount of distance.

We’ve walked 8.7 billion kilometers and caught 88 billion Pokémon

And not a dang Mewtwo in sight in the wild.

It might seem like Pokémon GO isn’t popular anymore, but it is. It’s not lighting the world on fire quite like it was back when it launched and was pretty much the only thing people talked about. It is, though, doing well. It’s still in the top 10 grossing apps on the iOS App Store as I write this story.

Number 1 on that list? Super Mario Run.
