Instagram swipes more features from Snapchat in latest update

One of Snapchat’s most creative features is being copied by Instagram—again. The Facebook-owned social network on Thursday announced features such as stickers, location badges, and more are coming to Stories, its Snapchat-like feature introduced earlier this year.

The new features allow users to get more creative with their stories. And to celebrate the holidays, there are limited edition stickers so you can decorate your pictures with mistletoe, snowmen, and more.

When you snap a photo, you’ll see a new smiley face up near the top right corner; tap that and you can easily add all the stickers you want. You can also add the temperature, too, and tell friends how warm it is in Southern California (currently a sunny 70 degrees).

Once the holidays pass, Instagram says new stickers will be added, so keep an eye out.

Wait, there’s more

In addition to stickers, Instagram is making Stories easier to use. There’s now a “hands-free” option, which allows users to record video with just one tap. This eliminates the need to press and hold on the record button, letting users focus on what’s being recorded rather than worrying about if their finger is pressing the correct button.

Finally, Instagram is letting users add as much text as they want—you can also adjust text size more easily using a slider. And if you want to save your story masterpiece, you can do so in a single video.

The new features should be available to Instagram users now.
