Astroneer might deliver a lot of what No Man’s Sky bungled, out on Early Access and Xbox One

Astroneer is a really neat looking game, isn’t it? The title hit Early Access this week, as well as the Windows 10 and Xbox One Game Preview program. It’s selling for $19.99.

What is it? This is a space exploration, base-building, mining and survival game that offers four player cooperative action from day one. Here’s how it’s described by the developers.

Astroneer is set during a 25th century gold rush where players must explore the frontiers of outer space, risking their lives and resources in harsh environments for the chance of striking it rich.

On this adventure, a player’s most useful tool is their ability to shape their world, altering the terrain and extracting valuable resources from planets, and moons. Resources can be traded or crafted into new tools, vehicles, and modules to create everything from massive industrial bases to mobile rover bases.

Will Astroneer cash the check No Man’s Sky wrote?

No doubt, No Man’s Sky is getting better. The most recent update actually brought some real game elements to the experience.

Astroneer appears more polished, though perhaps less hyped and ambitious. I played it at PAX East and walked away sort of in love, so I’m planning to grab this adventure soon.

What about you? Does Astroneer look great?
