Pokémon GO beats iPhone7, Donald Trump as the most Googled term of 2016

Google has revealed the most popular search engine terms of 2016, and believe it or not, this fad called “Pokémon” is still going strong into its 21st year of existence.

Pokémon GO was so popular in 2016 that it even beat out other popular entries like iPhone 7, Nintendo, and none other than Donald Trump.

Pokémon GO is a sign that the franchise still has lots of life left

Pokémon GO launched in July this year, and it stole headlines throughout the summer. Controversy, praise, updates, and general enthusiasm… you name it. Many expected the game to be a hit, but nobody expected it to become as huge as it did.

However, when the dust started to settle and Pokémon GO started to become a goofy little app without the legs to carry it into 2017, Pokémon Sun and Moon hit the market to record numbers! Nintendo’s mobile plan worked out exactly as planned, letting the power of the mobile market drive its Nintendo 3DS releases. One again, it proved that the company has the ability to not only adapt, but adapt with a vengeance!

When Nintendo enters a new video game scene, it enters with a bang!

And Pokémon GO is starting to fire up the special events with Halloween, Thanksgiving, and now Christmas accounted for. With the game available in most places throughout the world now, it only has the power to get better! Don’t count it down and out just yet.
