Pit People hits Early Access, Xbox One Game Preview on Jan. 13

Pit People is sort of coming soon. I say sort of because we’re set to get an Early Access version of the game, one that will be further developed and iterated upon until its official release date. We still don’t know that full release date, but the game will hit Steam Early Access and the Xbox One Game Preview program on January 13, 2017.

There’s better news. Early Access players will land the title for $15, while the real deal will cost $20 when it ships. The Early Access version will automatically upgrade to the full version upon release.

You can find the Steam version of the game here. It doesn’t look like the Xbox One version is up yet, but we’ll add that once it’s live.

Here’s what Early Access players will see, according to developer The Behemoth.

The Pit People Early Access experience will include a sizeable chunk of the Story mission, plus access to several world maps (yes, there are more than one!), quests, Unfair Challenge against the AI, and Versus mode. The game can be experienced as a single player or two-player cooperative mode. Additionally, versus can be played with up to 4 people in 2v2. All multiplayer modes can be played locally or online!

Pit People is the tactical title I need

I played both betas on the Xbox One and PC for Pit People. I’ve played the title multiple times at conventions. I’ve loved its humor and pacing each time, and I really want this thing out.

I see Early Access as a bit of an annoyance, but that’s more because of how other developers treat the program than what The Behemoth has announced. The game is fun and playable in its current state, and that’s a heck of a lot better than what sometimes hits Early Access.

Any takers? I’m probably going to wait for the full release, only because I want to experience the whole thing at once.
