Apple AirPods fly off shelves, shipping pushed to Jan.

Well, that was fast. If you were lucky, you had a few minutes this morning to pick up a pair of Apple’s new Airpods. They were initially on sale with a promised delivery date of December 21, right in time for the holidays. If you didn’t place the order immediately, you won’t get them in time.

Apple’s site now says AirPods won’t ship for four weeks, a full month from now and about two weeks after Christmas. Bummer. My guess is that a bunch of them will be available on eBay right after they start arriving since folks who did buy them will probably be able to make a profit. Additionally, Apple should have some in its stores as soon as next week, though my guess is they’re also going to be fairly limited in stock.

No AirPods for the holidays

AirPods are expensive at $159 but include the ability to access Siri, will pair effortlessly with your iPhone or iPad, and can charge in their carrying case. Folks who are looking for something portable and wireless may appreciate exactly what these have to bring to the table. While we don’t know how many Apple had in stock, early demand suggests there are enough people willing to cough up a lot of dough for AirPods.
