Apple TV gets big tvOS 10.1 update with new “TV” app and more

Apple released iOS 10.2 on Monday and also updated the Apple TV with new software.

tvOS 10.1 is available now and includes Apple’s new TV application, also available in iOS 10.2, that serves as a one-stop shop for streaming content. You can use the TV app to browse for TV shows that might be hidden in various applications, for example, which will alleviate any need to open different apps to find something to watch. It’s a feature Apple first unveiled back during its iPhone event in September, and it’s one that most folks should appreciate. Too bad it doesn’t include support for Amazon Prime or Netflix, though.

You’ll also appreciate features like Single Sign on (read our how-to guide to get up and running), which Apple actually introduced last week, in addition to a new iBooks Storytime feature for bringing some of your children’s favorite books to life on the big screen.

You should find the tvOS 10.1 update right on your Apple TV now.
