YouTube’s most watched game trailers for 2016 – Overwatch, Battlefield and more

The end of 2016 nears, and the time for lists to help us sum up the year is upon us. Case in point is YouTube’s list of the top 10 game trailers. YouTube decided to make things a bit more specific, though. Instead of just looking at video games in general, they narrowed it down to trailers for only games and only for games released this year. Otherwise, we’d see the Switch reveal breaking the top 5, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in the top 10, and upcoming PlayStation 4 titles like Spider-Man and God of War in the list.

Regardless of that, there are some of the usual suspects in here. Call of Duty‘s way up the list as usual, and it’s no surprise that Battlefield 1 trounced it this year. Pokémon is in the mix, too, as well as two different varieties of Clashing. Slightly more surprising are the presence of Doom and Watch Dogs 2, games that released to cautious optimism before surpassing fan expectations.

Battlefield 1 is the clear winner, with over 15 million more views than its next closest competitor. And while YouTube included only games from this year, they also seemed to decide that one thing from each game was enough, as Overwatch could’ve scored a couple more spots on this list.

Without further ado, here’s the list:

9. Watch Dogs 2 cinematic reveal trailer: 10,097,425 views
