Starbucks and Pokémon GO collaboration is real, and they’re serving a Pokémon GO Frappuccino

The Starbucks and Pokémon GO news that leaked earlier this week, thanks to a bunch of coffee shop employees around the U.S.,has been made official, right on time.

Starting at 11 a.m. PT today, 7,800 Starbucks shops around the United States will turn into Pokémon GO PokéStops or Gyms.

This probably made Niantic, The Pokémon Company and Nintendo a pile of scratch. We knew that business would one day be able to pay money to be turned into PokéStops and hold events, and I imagine Starbucks forked over a pile of cash to make this deal a reality.

Come for the Pokémon and gear, stay for a Pokémon GO Frappuccino

Of course, Starbucks has officially created a beverage for this campaign. Why not, right? It’s a special spin on one of their standard drinks. Here’s the word from the release:

The Pokémon GO Frappuccino® blended beverage starts with a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino® and blends in raspberry syrup with freeze dried whole blackberries, topped with whipped cream…

You’ll need to walk around and catch a few more Zubats in order to burn that thing off. I’d guess it checks in close to 500 calories.

Anyone heading to Starbucks?
