Mophie’s new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus battery cases support wireless charging

Famed battery-case maker Mophie on Tuesday announced its first iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus battery cases. These new cases are similar to what the company have offered in the past, but they offer extra functionality. The Juice Pack Air cases include Mophie’s Qi-compatible wireless charging, which means you won’t need to connect the case to charge it.

Mophie’s nifty trick is a way of bringing wireless charging to the iPhone, which infamously still doesn’t support it. Mophie has dabbled with wireless charging before, including making cases for the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.

The iPhone 7 variant includes an extra 2,525 mAh, good for up t0 27 hours of battery life. The iPhone 7 Plus version has an extra 2,420 mAh, which gets you up to 33 hours of battery life. The cases feature Mophie’s familiar design, with the soft touch finish and the four LED lights on the back that let you know the battery status. There is also a Micro-USB port to charge the case if you don’t have a wireless mat around.

Give the gift of extra battery

One notable omission from the case is the headphone jack. Many of Mophie’s competition have included a headphone jack in their designs. It also bypasses the female Lightning port, which is present in Apple’s own battery case.

The Juice Pack Air cases will retail for $99 and will be available in black, gold, navy blue, rose gold and (RED) colors. You can buy the black color option starting today, with rest of the colors being available in 4-5 weeks.
